DentaCheque Book Sales Raise 31% More for Dental Care to Disabled People

The unique partnership between Dental Lifeline Network (DLN) and dental manufacturing and supply companies provides dentists with DentaCheques, a valuable product coupon book offering significant savings to dentists. Funds raised through DentaCheques enable thousands of vulnerable people suffering from dental disease to receive comprehensive care through Donated Dental Services (DDS). DentaCheques helps fund DDS, and that's why the Dental Trade Alliance is proud to support Dental Lifeline Network and its programs.

• Book sales were brisk in 2011. 8,316 books were sold in 2011, compared to 6,345 books sold in 2010, for growth of 31.1%. The dollar value of those books equated to $1,233,484 in 2011, compared to $941,205 in 2010, again for growth of 31.1%.
• Book sales and commitments from the distributors look even better for 2012. Patterson, Henry Schein, Burkhart and NDC/ADC, have all been exceedingly supportive of this worthy cause. The team at Dental Lifeline Network is simply amazed at how the distributor partners have stepped up over the last few years.
• Each book purchased results in $1,300 worth of dental care for developmentally disabled people who simply can’t afford it. The wait list is now 17,000 people strong. The increased revenue from the DentaCheques efforts over the last couple of years have helped DLN hire treatment coordinators to address this wait list.
• The efforts of our distributors who sell and/or donate the DentaCheques books, the manufacturers who advertise, the clinicians who volunteer, are all a part of this wonderful effort to provide this care.

The team at DLN has genuinely appreciated the help the DTA’s DentaCheques committee has provided. All DTA member companies, the DTA Foundation and friends of the DTA thank dental care providers for joining us in supporting Dental Lifeline Network through purchases of DentaCheques.

DTAF and Robert J. Sullivan Family Foundation Create Dental Scholarships

The Dental Trade Alliance Foundation and the Robert J. Sullivan Family Foundation have partnered to create two $5,000 annual scholarships for third or fourth year dental students. Applications for the first year’s awards were due March 9, 2012.

Criteria for eligibility are determined by the applicant's demonstrated financial need, academic standing and history of charitable work. Applicants must be entering their third or fourth year of a dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation, have demonstrated financial need, show a commitment to community service and be in good academic standing with their university. Scholarship recipients will be notified on or before May 15, 2012.

A Magical Evening of Thanks

The Dental Trade Alliance Foundation had a very special evening as we thanked our donors and honored our 2011 grant recipients.

The Third Annual ‘Evening of Thanks’ on Monday, November 28, 2011 at the Harvard Club in New York City offered networking with leaders of the dental industry. Entertainment by Ryan Oakes, featured on truTVs "The Real Hustle," Magic Monty, three card Monty, and more was enjoyed by all.

DTAF Thanks the Robert J. Sullivan Family Foundation
The Robert J. Sullivan Family Foundation has established a $25,000 restricted fund to support the efforts of the Dental Trade Alliance Foundation. It is the intent that the funds be used to benefit the area of dental education. The Robert J. Sullivan Family Foundation will be working with the DTAF to determine the appropriate opportunities for this fund.

The Board of Directors of the Dental Trade Alliance Foundation wishes to thank the Robert J. Sullivan Family Foundation for this generous gift that will help the DTAF further its mission of increasing the access to, and productivity of, the oral healthcare system.
